PART 8 ITS TIME TO FINALLY TALK ABOUT KENSHI LOSING HIS EYES !!!

Originally I was going to do my usual analysis style for this scene but I mean we’ve all seen it- I don’t think there’s a whole lot I can say that hasn’t been said already (I will almost definitely do it anyways later) so instead I want to take this time to draw comparisons between this scene and a scene of Jacqui and Takeda from MKX.

Takeda x Jacqui: When the Kombat kids are teamed up against Kotal, Erron Black, Ermac and Reptile, Takeda notices Reptile attempt to apprehend Jacqui and immediately warns her. Unfortunately this leads to Reptile spitting venom directly into his eyes, temporarily blinding him (like father like son). Jacqui then overpowers Reptile and is the one to wash the acid out of Takedas eyes, which is followed by a tender moment between the two- they’re surrounded by hell and yet they find the time to be alone and (canonically) fall in love.

Kenshi x Johnny: when attempting to free Mileena from Shang Tsung, Mileenas Tarkat takes over and causes Kenshi to call Johnny over for help (who’s eager to do so). The two play hot potato with her for a while until she eventually overpowers the two and stabs Kenshis eyes out. When Syzoth offers medicine later, Johnny is the one to apply it to Kenshi and relieve his “excruciating” pain. Again, though surrounded by hell, they find the time to be alone together (this is the second time now) and share an intimate moment (they’re literally locked in a cell with two other people and still Johnny made the application process so personal and ugghhhhh). This is a major turning point for their relationship so I’ll talk more about it later but just know I am excited to get into this!!!

Anyways I hadn’t seen anybody point this out yet! Maybe it’s bc they kinda abandoned the Takeda x Jacqui subplot so people just forgot about it but I really liked them !
